Over the past several years, the annual letter to shareholders from Warren Buffett, chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, has become one of the most eagerly anticipated communications in the financial world.

It’s like Christmas when Warren Buffett’s Annual Letter to Shareholders is published.

With the S&P 500 Index up 23.5% as of November 1st, the panic that gripped the markets five years ago during the financial crisis is a distant memory. Yet the anniversary of our economy’s biggest test since the Great Depression has prompted numerous articles reminding investors of Wall Street lessons learned that apply to Main Street.

It’s a new year and we’ve likely all made resolutions to improve ourselves.

It’s tough trying to reach the next generation with money advice. If all else fails you might encourage them to check out the advice from Slim Thug in his new book How to Survive in a Recession. Dr. Stephen R. Covey passed away last month at the age of 79 from complications of an April bicycling accident tin Provo Utah. As you undoubtedly know Covey was the author of the epically successful The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The groundbreaking book was published in 1989 and has sold more than 25 million copies in 38 languages.

The 2012 Summer Olympics in London have certainly been inspirational – even prompting a London man to attempt to swim across the Atlantic Ocean!

A client recently reminded me of a list I distributed a few years ago. I do not recall where I found this list or when I sent it.  However she liked it so much that she has it posted at her desk. And I am taking this opportunity to share it again on the first day of the New Year!.
