Let the Madness March Forth

‘Twas the start of the madness and all through the land,
People sat in front of the TV with beer and hot wings in hand.

But no brackets to bet on, no games this year
Everyone quarantined with virus fear.

Tired of healthcare and stock market news,
I wanted some fun to shake off the blues.

So, 68 schools I picked with such care
Hope you can find some favorites there.

Teams were chosen and placed into regions
With top seeds recognized for their good seasons.

Many from Big 10, Big 12 and ACC divisions
All dreaming of Final Four visions.

March Forth Madness is the name of my game.
I’ll whistle, and shout, and call them by name:

Now Badgers, now Bears, now Cougars, and Shockers,
On Flyers, on Aztecs, on Spartans and Jayhawkers;
To the top of the basket, to the top with the ball!
Now swish away! swish away! swish away all!

The Virginia Cavaliers take an improbable run
At back-to-back titles, if it can be done.

Can a play-in team make it far?
Can Wichita State reach the high bar?

‘Nova fans are thrilled and their hopes are alive
Once upon a time, they had a fairytale upset in '85.

Kansas fans claim, as they usually do
The Championship will go to their Jayhawks in blue.

The Blue Devils from Durham are also quite hot
Duke fans are certain they will win the top spot.

All of a sudden there arose such a clatter
On the screen, Sir Charles started to chatter.
“Seminoles are the Champs, Florida legislature voted
Their performance deserved a #1 Seed, the fans noted.”

Those curious can watch from East Coast to West
